The project G-20 the day b4 – open access captures the day before the G-20 summit in a photo slice show of random shots of Hamburg city center. It records moments of a silent taking over of the city – into the hands of security management. It wants to raise the questions to whom the city belongs, how we want to inhabit it and who needs to be protected. As change is often an evolutional hardly perceivable development the intention is to keep an eye on microcosmic details in the process of global change and increasing tensions.
Notes in the context of the following G-20 event and its accompanying incidences:
•A certain silence becomes visible in the sequence?
•A vague stiffness emerges in the city?
•People seem somehow out of place in their very own habitat.
•Kennedy bridge on the day before Trumps visit, tells us something about then and now?
•At the same time: Relieved of the rush hours and car traffic the beauty of the city shines through.
